The way we do things is always changing, especially in how we buy houses. 

It is no longer enough to give your house a new coat of paint and a good cleaning.  Yes, you still need to do this but much more is asked and even expected from today's Buyers.

Ask most Realtors and they will tell you that today's Buyers want move-in ready houses. 

If your house is in need of TLC your potential Buyer may either walk and move on to the next listing OR they could offer much less than your asking price to compensate for what they think it will cost them to get it up to par. 

So just why is it that today's Buyers want Move-In Ready Houses?   moving

    1.  More than ever both parties in a couple work full time outside the home.   Many don't want to have to spend their limited free time renovating, updating or repairing. 

    2.  With the current economy, the non-DIY Buyer may not have the money or inclination to pay contractors or service people to get their "new" home ready. 
   
    3.  There are too many other comparable homes on the market; having a move-in ready home will help it stand out in the competition.

    4.  Buyers may want to do their own renovations and upgrades and buying a home that is in move-in condition gives them the option to do this in their own time frame.
